What the app sends

Nothing, except in the two cases described below. Your recordings, projects, audio and transcripts never leave your computer. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter that runs without asking, and no usage tracking.

Captions

Captions are produced by Apple's on-device speech recognition. Clipframe requests on-device recognition only, so your audio is not sent to Apple for transcription. If a language model is not installed on your Mac, transcription fails rather than falling back to a server.

Licence checks

Your licence key is verified on your machine using a cryptographic signature. No request is made to us to check it, so the app works offline indefinitely and keeps working if this website disappears.

Moving a purchase to the direct build

If you bought Clipframe on the Mac App Store and press Get My Licence Key, the app sends your App Store purchase receipt to us so we can check it with Apple's signature and send back a licence key for the direct download. That receipt identifies the purchase, not you: Apple does not give the app your name or email, and we do not ask for one.

We keep no record of it. The licence is derived from the purchase itself, so the same purchase always produces the same licence without us storing anything. The transaction number appears in a short-lived server log and nowhere else. This happens only when you press the button, and never in the direct build.

The other exception: updates

If automatic updates are enabled, the app periodically requests a file from this website to see whether a newer version exists. That request carries what any web request carries — your IP address, and the app and system version. It is not tied to your licence or to any identifier we hold, and you can switch it off.

This website

clipframe.app is served by Cloudflare, which processes request logs including IP addresses to deliver the site and defend against abuse. We do not run analytics, and we set no cookies.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google when you visit. That request carries your IP address and is subject to Google's own privacy policy.

Buying

Payments are handled by our payment provider, not by us. They receive the details needed to take payment and to meet tax obligations. We receive your email address so we can send your licence key and reach you about your purchase. We do not sell or share it.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold — which for most customers is an email address and a purchase record. Write to hello@clipframe.app and we will act on it within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it.
